Successful year 2022 in a dynamic market environment
The Engynious Group closed the year 2022 very successfully. The solar yields in the past year were only average due to weather conditions. However, the cumulative reference portfolio of the Engynious Group could be increased by 25% and amounts to almost 12.5 MWp at the end of 2022.
The most important transaction of the Engynious Group in 2022 was the sale of the UK business after 7 years of very successful operation. In October, the entire UK portfolio with over 2.9 MWp of capacity was sold to Guinness Sustainable Infrastructure Ltd. The UK O&M business will be continued by our affiliate Solar Options for Schools Ltd (www.solarforschools.co.uk).
In Switzerland, our joint venture with Younergy (www.younergy.ch) to own and operate photovoltaic plants continued its accelerated growth. By the end of December 2022, 75 additional PV plants with 1.2 MWp capacity were completed and commissioned. This distributed portfolio of power generation sites, pre-financed by Engynious, now reaches a size of 529 PV plants with a total capacity of 4.7 MWp. Driven by sharp increases in energy prices, customers are increasingly taking advantage of the opportunity to switch to locally produced solar power under our attractive power supply contracts without needing to make any investment of their own.
Engynious’ fully pre-financed development of projects by our affiliate Younergy in the Portuguese market built on its promising start in 2022. By the end of the year, 13 plants totaling 1.2 MWp had been completed. These are spread across Portugal and different sectors in the commercial segment, e.g. hotels, service stations, wholesale markets, etc.
In view of the dynamic development and increasing attractiveness of the markets for renewable energy and energy services, we have decided to resume project development and expansion of our portfolio in Germany with a newly founded JV.
