SEEd joins Engynious to make schools more sustainable
SEEd, one of the UK’s most respected organisations promoting education for sustainable development in schools has teamed up with renewable energy developers and suppliers of solar PV, Engynious Clean Power.
SEEd, established five years ago, is recognized by the Department for Education for its collaboration and promotion for Sustainable Schools and education of sustainable development. While Engynious, a solar PV developer in the schools market, is focused on developing long-term sustainable relationships with schools and is looking to help schools embed sustainable development into their curricula.
The Engynious SEEd partnership is aiming to give schools that want solar PV the chance to achieve their ambitions and have a practical real-life learning opportunity.
Ann Finlayson, CEO of SEEd, said: “It’s all about giving schools access to renewable solar energy. We can’t all afford solar PV, or find the time and resources to apply for it but by working with Engynious, schools have an opportunity to buy solar energy more cheaply than they currently pay for electricity and it’s a no risk, no cost option.”
For the schools no capital is needed with the Engynious SEEd Schools Solar programme, neither for the PV system itself, nor for its maintenance. This is all covered by Engynious. Schools only pay for the renewable energy they use at less than the market rate for electricity and their costs are ring-fenced from escalating energy price market rises.
“It would be wonderful for all schools to have some solar power. That is a dream rather than the reality but given the educational gains that come from such real-life teaching opportunities, the more we can get onto to school roofs the better”, said Ann Finlayson.
Engynious Clean Power chairman Ted Scheidegger, said: “Our company and ethos is about developing a sustainable business and the long-term partnerships we have with schools are integral to this. We believe the relationships we build with schools will help generations develop the understanding, knowledge and skills to be able to consider sustainable life choices in the future.”
The Engynious SEEd Schools Solar Programme is open to all schools in England and Wales to apply please email a.flaherty(at)engynious.com. Join us and let’s put sustainability into your school curriculum.
